Some things to consider during your visit:

1) As the evening progresses and more guests arrive, the inn becomes increasingly lively—and noisy. This is part of the charm of the medieval-themed experience, complete with music, laughter, and spirited performances. Those sensitive to noise levels should keep this in mind, as a quiet dining environment is not to be expected at a bustling medieval inn.

2) Only cash and debit are accepted (no credit cards).

3) Reservations are strongly recommended, especially on weekends, as the restaurant tends to get fully booked.

4) A musician's fee to help pay the restaurant's troubadors is added to your bill: $10 per adult, $5 per child. As well, A gratuity is automatically applied to groups of eight or more.

5) Guests are encouraged to review the menu online before visiting, as the food can be on the pricier side. When combined with the musicians' fee and automatic gratuities for larger groups, the overall cost can add up. Keep in mind, however, that you are not only paying for a hearty and filling meal—but also for a unique and immersive medieval experience.

6) Guests who book a table on the terrace will not be part of the live indoor entertainment and, as such, will not be charged the musicians' fee. However, they will also miss out on the full immersive experience that includes live music and character performances inside the restaurant.

Disclosure: We were provided with a complimentary dinner at L'auberge du Dragon Rouge in exchange for our coverage of the experience.
