Highlights:

  • Full Afternoon Tea Experience: This 90-minute immersive experience goes far beyond simply serving tea and treats. Guests choose their own porcelain teacup from nearly 100 unique pieces, receive personalized tea recommendations, enjoy unlimited tea refills, and savour multi-tiered platters featuring both savoury and sweet treats from local Montreal businesses. The experience includes lessons on British tea etiquette, the opportunity to dress in borrowed fascinators (hats) or bow ties, and complimentary photography throughout the beautifully decorated space.

  • Interactive and Educational Elements: What makes Lady Porcelaine stand out is the educational component woven naturally into the experience. Your teens will learn about tea history, proper etiquette, and British traditions in an engaging way that feels more like storytelling than a lecture. Optional add-ons include tea leaf reading sessions (tasseomancy) with experienced readers for guests 18 and older, and the "Letter to Self" experience where guests write themselves a letter, seal it with wax using Lady Porcelaine's official seal, and have it mailed back at a chosen future date.

  • Instagram-Worthy Decor and Photo Opportunities: The entire salon is designed with attention to detail, from the pastel pink color palette to the vintage porcelain collections and delicate lace accents. Every corner offers photo opportunities, and staff actively encourage guests to capture the experience. The dedicated photo areas and thoughtful design make this an ideal outing for teens who want shareable content that's genuinely unique.

  • Accommodating Dietary Options: Lady Porcelaine offers vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free menu options, ensuring that teens with different dietary requirements can fully participate in the experience. The food is sourced from local Montreal businesses, celebrating Quebec's culinary scene while maintaining high quality standards.

Recommended Audience:
This experience is perfect for families with teens and young adults in Montreal who appreciate unique cultural experiences, enjoy learning about traditions from other cultures, want a break from typical restaurant outings, or are looking for a special occasion celebration that feels genuinely memorable and different.

What to Expect:
A 90-minute afternoon tea service in an elaborately decorated Victorian-inspired space where you select your own teacup, enjoy unlimited tea poured from real porcelain teapots, sample locally-sourced savoury and sweet treats on tiered platters, and engage in interactive elements including etiquette lessons and optional tea leaf readings.

Some things to consider during your visit:

  • Advance Reservations Are Essential: Lady Porcelaine operates exclusively by reservation, and the intimate space means availability fills quickly, especially on weekends. Book through their online system well in advance to secure your preferred date and time. Walk-ins are not accepted for the Afternoon Tea Experience.

  • The Experience is Designed for Ages 12 and Up: To maintain the tranquil, wellness-focused atmosphere that defines Lady Porcelaine, the Afternoon Tea Experience is reserved for guests aged 12 and older. Occasional special parent-child events for younger children (ages 6 to 11) are offered periodically and announced through their social media channels and newsletter.

  • Arrive on Time for the Full Experience: The immersive experience begins promptly at your reservation time to ensure every guest enjoys the complete 90-minute journey. Arriving late means missing parts of the experience, and the session cannot be extended to accommodate late arrivals due to subsequent reservations. Plan for potential Plateau Mont-Royal parking challenges and allow extra time.

  • Parking Can Be Challenging on Rue St-Denis: Street parking in Le Plateau Mont-Royal is notoriously difficult, especially on weekends. Consider using public transit (the Mont-Royal metro station is nearby), arriving with extra time to find parking, or using a rideshare service. There are paid parking lots in the area, but they fill quickly during peak hours

  • Budget for Optional Add-Ons: While the base Afternoon Tea Experience is comprehensive, optional experiences like tea leaf readings (paid directly to the reader) and the "Letter to Self" activity are available at additional cost. Consider your budget and interests when deciding which add-ons to include.

Disclosure: We received complimentary Afternoon Tea Experiences from Lady Porcelaine in exchange for our coverage.
