Les Madeleines d'Emilie
Treat Your Teens to a One of a Kind French Pastry Experience on the Plateau!
Les Madeleines d'Emilie is Montreal's first concept dedicated entirely to madeleines. The boutique was founded by Emilie, a pastry chef trained at the Institut Paul Bocuse in Lyon, France, who brought her technique and passion for the classic French shell-shaped pastry to the Plateau. The madeleines are reimagined across a wide range of sweet and savoury flavours, all made by hand using local Quebec ingredients. The shop is located at the foot of Mount Royal, just across from Parc Jeanne-Mance, making it an easy stop to pair with an afternoon in the neighbourhood.

Where: 129 Avenue du Mont-Royal Ouest, Montréal, QC H2T 2K5 🚇 Mont-Royal
Highlights:
- Sweet Madeleines in Dozens of Flavours: The sweet madeleine menu covers an impressive range, from pistachio raspberry and salted caramel to dark chocolate ganache, passion fruit and coconut, lemon meringue, and maple syrup with pecans. There are also options for those with dietary restrictions, including gluten-free and vegan madeleines.
- Savoury Madeleines Worth Trying: The savoury selection includes combinations like goat cheese with sun-dried tomatoes and basil, blue cheese with pear and walnut, olives with cheddar and thyme, and salmon with cheddar and dill. These make for a fun and unexpected snack that teens who enjoy bold flavours will appreciate.
- Giant Madeleines to Share: The giant madeleine option is designed to serve 8 to 10 people, making it a great choice for a group treat or a birthday celebration.
- Made with Local Quebec Ingredients: The madeleine batter is made fresh daily using farm eggs, fresh butter, flour, and sugar, with no artificial preservatives or colourants. All colourings used are 100% natural, and the shop prioritizes local Quebec producers for its ingredients.
- A Real Hot Chocolate Worth Stopping For: Made with chocolate ganache rather than a powdered mix, it makes for a natural pairing with the madeleines.
- Build Your Own Box: Customers can create their own custom boxes in any quantity they choose, which makes for a fun way for teens to mix and match their own selection before heading out to the park.
Recommended Audience: This is a great outing for parents with teens and young adults in Montreal who enjoy discovering local artisan food spots and want a memorable treat in one of the city's most walkable neighbourhoods.
What to Expect: A small, artisan Plateau boutique specializing entirely in handmade madeleines, sweet and savoury, available to enjoy on the spot or to take away.

Some things to consider during your visit:
-
The Menu Changes Seasonally: Some flavours, such as the wild blueberry madeleine and the lavender peach madeleine, are only available during specific times of year. If your teen has their heart set on a particular flavour, it is worth checking the shop's Instagram page or website before visiting to confirm what is currently available.
-
Plan for Limited Hours: The boutique is open Wednesday through Sunday only, so a little planning ahead will save you a wasted trip. It is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
- Parking on the Plateau Takes Patience: Avenue du Mont-Royal is a busy commercial strip, and street parking can be hard to come by, especially on weekends. Building extra time into your arrival or heading there by metro will make for a smoother start to your visit.
- Come Early for the Best Selection: The boutique produces its madeleines fresh daily, and selection can run low later in the afternoon, particularly on weekends and holidays. Arriving earlier in the day gives your group the best chance of finding the full range of flavours on offer.
Disclosure: We received complimentary madeleines in exchange for our coverage.
