Highlights:

  • Sixteen Artistic Universes Designed by Film Industry Professionals: Created through collaboration between production designer Léa-Valérie Létourneau and consultant designer Élisabeth Williams, each space blends pop art, maximalism, and contemporary art with contributions from muralists Dan Buller and Edward Maloney, offering a professional quality artistic experience that goes beyond typical selfie museums.

  • Interactive Photography Experience Where Teens Take Creative Control: Unlike traditional museums where touching exhibits is forbidden, every universe here is designed for interaction, complete with props, tripods, and creative setups that allow teens to direct their own photo shoots and experiment with different visual styles while developing their photography skills.

  • Diverse Themed Spaces Offering Something for Every Creative Vision: From the mirrored Black Box that creates infinite reflections to the playful Montreal Poutine Pool ball pit, the tropical Tiki Party room, and the psychedelic retro bedroom, each universe provides distinct visual aesthetics that cater to different creative preferences and social media styles.

Recommended Audience:
This experience is perfect for families with teens and young adults in Montreal who enjoy creative activities, photography, and social media content creation, as well as those seeking an indoor cultural activity that encourages artistic expression and self-directed exploration.

What to Expect:
Self-guided exploration through 16 distinct themed installations with full access to props and creative setups, where visitors take their own photos and videos in artistically designed spaces that blend contemporary art styles with interactive elements.

Some things to consider during your visit:

  • Peak Times Can Reduce Photo Opportunities: Weekends and peak hours may result in crowded spaces where it becomes challenging to take photos without other visitors in the frame. Consider visiting on weekday afternoons when the museum is less busy to have more time and space for uninterrupted photography in each universe.

  • The Space is Compact, So Take Your Time in Each Universe: Musée Imaginarium is a focused, intimate experience rather than a sprawling traditional museum. To get the most value from your visit, plan to spend quality time experimenting with different angles, props, and creative setups in each of the 16 universes rather than rushing through.

  • No Food or Drinks Allowed Inside the Museum: Outside food and beverages are not permitted in the exhibition spaces. Plan accordingly if your teens need snacks or drinks, as you'll need to finish these before entering or wait until after your visit.

Disclosure: We received complimentary passes + drink coupons from Musée Imaginarium in exchange for our coverage.
